using ib_insync rather than IbPy
-
Hello! New to backtrader and considering to implement my trading strategy using backtrader. Have one question. Since Interactive brokers now offer a native python API the use of IbPy seems inefficient. I am finding ib_insync an efficient wrapper for the IB API which makes it easy to use and the project is well supported. Do you have any plans to implement that?
Kind regards
Steffen

This question was already answered, not only once but twice (it took a single google query)

In any case and if you misname the platform twice in a single sentence (
backorder
) right after the salutation ... it doesn't seem like you will call for much attention.It actually seems a standard spam message to promote the
ib_insync
wrapper.

To be fair to Steffen on this one point, I guess is he is writing on a Mac with auto-correct turned on. :)

am SORRY about the typos guys.
ib_insync is a nice wrapper for the IB API which should make it relatively painless to implement.
I have been using ib_insync for a while and am really impressed with the community and the support as well as its usability. Just a kind suggestion.
@ThatBlokeDave - you are right
still no reason to be rude

Mac or no Mac, it has clearly nothing to do with being rude and rather than proven wrong, the theory has been proven right.
Given that @steffen has a vetted interest in
ib_insync
and promoting it and he's very happy with it, he could explain to the rest of us why the existing functionality isn't good.He/She may also consider contacting the author and funding development of a version which we could call
ib_insync
-enabled.Or he/she (as happy as he/she is) could develop his/her own Store/Broker as some other people do:

Do the admins of this site normally see this kind of approach to new user replies as being a successful way to create an open and tolerant community?
I can understand you may have some frustration with the questions, but such a disparaging tone doesn't really help anyone except you feel good about bashing newbies.
I don't really think I want to communicate on here if this the way people are replied to. I like the software framework but this seems a bit off on the tone on the community forums.
